Meet Camilla McGill
Parenting Coach
If you're exhausted by the tantrums, the battles and the constant feeling that you're getting it wrong, you're in exactly the right place.
I'm Camilla McGill, a parenting coach with over 20 years of experience helping parents raise calm, confident and emotionally resilient children, without shouting, punishments or losing your sanity.
My Story
There I was in September 2000 with two little boys - a tricky toddler and a colicky baby, wondering if I’d ever feel like I knew what I was doing…
I thought I was the only mother suffering with guilt, sheer exasperation and that feeling of helplessness.
And in that complex mix was the deepest feeling of love and protectiveness that I’d ever experienced.
I realised I needed to get help, support and guidance.. The books were helpful, but I wanted more.
I wanted to find a way to parent with my own values, to learn how to parent with love and boundaries and never need to shout or use punishments.
So I got support through 1:1 coaching and group parenting classes and it transformed our home life completely. My unruly, demanding and often aggressive toddler became so much calmer and more cooperative.
That was my lightbulb moment. I decided to study positive parenting and combine my background in training and development with a new passion for helping other parents do the same.
Ready to feel calmer and more confident as a parent?
What My 'Spirited' Son Taught Me
My second son Felix was an adorable, spirited bundle of love and energy, but his tantrums, meltdowns and emotional outbursts tested every single ounce of my patience.
Parenting Felix required that my husband and I really held our nerve in those moments of self-doubt, agonising over whether we were being too soft or too firm.
As we watched him emerge as a confident little boy, able to manage his emotions and behaviour, we knew our approach was working.
Fast forward 20 years, all four of my children are grown up and thriving. Despite many bumps and plenty of imperfect parenting along the way, they are confident, kind, resilient and go-getting. Our relationships are strong, built on trust and respect. Felix is a well-balanced, thriving young adult, and I couldn't be prouder.
That's what I want for you and your family.
Why Parents Trust Me
Before specialising in parenting, I built a career in training and development, working with some of the world's leading organisations including McKinsey, Goldman Sachs and PwC, with a particular focus on developing and supporting their support staff. That experience taught me how to make complex behavioural change feel simple, practical and achievable, and those are skills I bring to every parent I work with today.
I trained in parenting at The New Learning Centre and am a Master Practitioner in NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming), a powerful framework for understanding how we think, communicate and create lasting change. I've also spent over a decade volunteering as a parent coach with Parent Gym, working with families across a wide range of backgrounds and circumstances.
I've been featured twice on BBC Radio 4 Woman's Hour, discussing the challenges parents face and the positive parenting strategies that genuinely make a difference.
What qualifies me most, though, is 20 years of working closely with thousands of parents, and raising four children of my own.
Who I Work With
I feel so lucky to do the work I do. Over the years I've had the privilege of working with thousands of parents across the private and public sector, from the wealthy and well-known to families living in very difficult circumstances.
Single parents, same-sex parents, divorced, married, cohabiting - the full spectrum of family life.
I am in
awe of the qualities parents bring to the job, whatever their circumstances, and I will never judge.
My belief is that we all do the best we can with the resources we have. But that doesn't mean we can't learn to do even better, and that's why I founded My Parenting Solutions - to give you the support and tools to bring out the best in your children and create a harmonious, happy family life.
"Camilla has very high standards of professionalism and got amazing feedback from every parent she worked with. Thoughtful, reflective and an absolute pleasure to work with."
Geethika Jaytilaka, (Former) Director Parent Gym
A few fun facts about me
Our cat Molly is the true queen of the household, and we all compete for the title of her favourite. It's obviously me, but nobody else likes to admit it.
I love to cook and friends and family seem to keep coming back for more. My favourite thing is a big, chaotic Friday night dinner with the kids and their friends although my somewhat chaotic style of preparation rarely translates into having everything ready when the guests arrive.
I go to a weekly yoga class and I’m a tiny bit more flexible than I used to be :)
I love meeting up with friends for a catch up and a giggle.
But my greatest joy is spending time with my kids - hanging out, going on holiday, playing Padel, chatting, playing games and long lazy meals.
"When I'm about to lose it with my child I hear Camilla's calm voice in my head. I've avoided so many conflicts and we are so much closer as a result."

Scarlett (my daughter's) babysitting client: "I really want to find out what your mother did so I can raise my kids to be just like you."
Scarlett: "Well, she’s a parent coach."
Client: "Ah, now that explains everything!"
